Night Shift Assembly And Sewing Operator
This role involves assembling and sewing components used in the construction of industrial filter bags on a night shift schedule. You will work at a designated workstation to perform repetitive manufacturing operations with precision, using hand tools and industrial sewing equipment to complete each order accurately. The position requires strong attention to detail, consistent quality, and a safety-first mindset while working in a relaxed, small industrial manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities- Assemble components in the parts area to create subassemblies used in the final construction of filter bags.
- Operate industrial sewing machines to attach assembled components to tubed filters and complete the sewing portion of the production process.
- Follow detailed work instructions for each order, recognizing that order types and filter quantities can change daily.
- Start and end most shifts at the same workstation while completing multiple orders as needed throughout the shift.
- Carefully review each order, noting that each job may differ slightly or significantly from previous orders, and adjust work methods accordingly.
- Use hand tools and measuring devices, such as tape measures, to ensure accurate dimensions and proper fit of assembled parts.
- Maintain a high level of attention to detail to ensure all components are assembled and sewn correctly before the product moves to packing.
- Repeat the same manufacturing operations accurately and consistently to meet quality and productivity standards.
- Ask for help and clarification whenever instructions, drawings, or order details are unclear to avoid errors.
- Work primarily in a seated position at a single workstation for the duration of the shift while maintaining focus and productivity.
- Follow all safety procedures and guidelines to maintain a safe work area and protect yourself and coworkers.
- Contribute to a clean and organized workstation by managing materials, tools, and finished components appropriately.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to ensure orders are completed on time and meet required specifications.
- Demonstrated safety mindset with a strong commitment to following safety procedures and maintaining a safe work environment.
- Consistent punctuality and dependability, including reliable attendance for the night shift schedule (8:30 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., Sunday through Thursday).
- Ability to repeat the same manufacturing operation accurately and consistently over the course of a shift.
- Willingness and ability to ask for help and clarification when instructions or order requirements are unclear.
- Ability to work seated in one place for most of the shift while maintaining focus and productivity.
- Hand dexterity for handling small parts, guiding materials, and operating tools and sewing equipment.
- Experience or comfort with general labor and basic assembly tasks in a manufacturing or similar environment.
- Ability to read and use a tape measure to verify measurements and ensure accuracy in assembly and sewing tasks.
- Basic proficiency in operating or learning to operate industrial sewing machines or similar equipment.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with industrial sewing, including operating industrial sewing machines, is highly beneficial.
- Background in embroidery, upholstery, or similar fabric-based work is an advantage.
- Prior experience in an industrial manufacturing environment is helpful.
- Comfort working with repetitive tasks and varying order requirements throughout the shift.
- Strong attention to detail and quality-focused mindset.
- Ability to adapt to changing tasks based on order variety and filter quantities.
