Position Summary

Help lead all construction safety programs, protocols, and compliance initiatives for the AMS Compounding Expansion Project based in Hebron, Newark, Ohio. Ensure zero-incident construction execution through proactive safety leadership, effective contractor management, and continuous improvement of safety systems and safety culture.

Key Responsibilities

Safety Leadership & Program Management

  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive construction safety management systems for CAPEX projects.
  • Lead safety risk assessments, hazard identification, and mitigation planning for construction activities.
  • Establish and monitor safety KPIs, incident reporting protocols, and corrective action programs.
  • Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and compliance verification across all construction sites.

Contractor Safety Management

  • Qualify, evaluate, and monitor third-party contractor safety performance and compliance.
  • Develop contractor safety requirements, pre‑qualification criteria, and ongoing assessment protocols.
  • Lead contractor safety meetings, toolbox talks, and safety orientation programs.
  • Manage contractor incident investigation, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.

Regulatory Compliance & Standards

  • Ensure full compliance with OSHA, EPA, and local regulatory safety requirements.
  • Maintain current knowledge of evolving safety regulations and industry best practices.
  • Develop and update construction safety standards, procedures, and work instructions.
  • Interface with regulatory agencies during inspections and compliance reviews.

Training & Culture Development

  • Design and deliver construction safety training programs for internal teams and contractors.
  • Promote safety culture through leadership engagement, communication, and recognition programs.
  • Develop safety competency requirements and certification programs for construction personnel.
  • Lead safety awareness campaigns and continuous improvement initiatives.

Incident Management & Investigation

  • Lead comprehensive incident investigation processes including root cause analysis.
  • Coordinate emergency response procedures and crisis management protocols.
  • Implement corrective actions and lessons learned across the organization.
Reporting Relationships
  • Reports to:

    Construction Management Lead
  • Matrix Relationships:
    Construction Managers, Project Managers, Site Operations, HSE personnel
  • External Interfaces:
    Contractors
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Safety Engineering, an Engineering discipline, or related field.
  • 5+ years progressive experience in construction management.
  • Knowledge of OSHA 1926 construction standards and EPA regulations.
  • Experience with capital project construction safety management.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Chemical industry construction safety experience.
  • Six Sigma or Lean certification.
  • Experience with international safety standards and practices.

  • Contractor safety performance scores and compliance ratings.
  • Safety audit findings and corrective action closure rates.
  • Training completion rates and safety competency assessments.
  • Regulatory compliance scores and inspection results.
