Senior Global Furnace Engineer, Quartz
The Senior Global Furnace Engineer, Quartz is responsible for serving as the global process expert for the 214 draw processes in the Quartz business unit. The role will have responsibility for creating both short- and long-term plans for technological advancement and maintenance strategies to improve the robustness of the manufacturing platform.
This role will also facilitate ongoing training and development of key global manufacturing resources and support troubleshooting & development of corrective actions for furnace performance issues.
The Senior Global Furnace Engineer, Quartz shall comply with federal and state regulations in conjunction with company policies in areas of Safety, Environmental Regulations, and Utilities. Follow and adhere to Momentive's Core Competencies, take an active Leadership role in promoting a safe work culture, interfacing with all disciplines of the company.
Key Responsibilities
Drive continuous improvement opportunities for quartz draw furnace performance, inclusive of larger scale yield challenges, asset reliability (including obsolescence concerns), gaging, and foundational design.
Analyze and improve performance tracking of running furnaces, identify variation sources, and implement action plans through partnership with manufacturing teams to improve furnace yields
Provide technical support to global manufacturing teams to resolve production issues and/or optimize/standardize global furnace assets, processes, and procedures.
Develop a cadence of ongoing furnace training with global teams to bolster operational expertise among manufacturing resources and establish/maintain standard processes across sites.
Partner with maintenance teams to develop preventative maintenance strategies and repair plans.
Collaborate with tungsten engineer on new set-up design including assembly and part drawings, BOM's, machining and fabrication instructions.
Integrate all critical documents into quality management system.
Create/update standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all furnace setup processes and generate safety job instructions.
Participate in new tool design reviews;
Manage all engineering test requests and management of change (MOC) process, both internally and externallyReview part prints for accuracy, tolerance feasibility, and material specifications
Create RFQ's; send to venders for tooling and capital quotes, analyze the quotes, make the recommendations to Purchasing.
Develop contingency plan for single source operations and materials; manage validation plans for associated qualifications/changes.
Communicate the quality requirements that are needed to meet expectations for furnace set-ups.
Lead strategic programs related to critical furnace materials
Discover process differences between the three global furnace operations, test each method, and train each site on which method is the best practice.
Oversee Furnace trials and testing to ensure accuracy of the test and results.

Basic Qualifications:
BS degree in engineering or related field, preferred Mechanical or Glass Engineering
Minimum of 10 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing work environment (required)
Strong leadership and motivation skills within all layers of the business
Collaborative style to pull expertise and feedback on challenges from internal teams and work together to generate/action solutions
Confident communications, both written and verbal
Excellent proficiency in all Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Proven organization skills, both in staffing and logistics within a manufacturing environment
Preferred Qualifications:
MS or MBA
Six Sigma Greenbelt certification (preferred), with solid statisticalanalysis and problem-solving expertise
SAP experience (or comparable ERP knowledge)
Working knowledge of Solid Works and/or CAD
