Materials Scheduling Manager
The Materials Scheduling Manager is responsible for leading the Quartz BU’s Scheduling function across its three U.S. plants. The main deliverables are improved OTIF (On Time in Full) service, reduced Days of Inventory (DOI), and reduced lead times. This role collaborates with Commercial, ISR, Operations, Finance, and Quality to improve execution of customer orders.
Responsibilities- Leads and provides oversight to Scheduling team members for multiple product lines at three plants in the U.S.; serves as a back‑up for all schedulers.
- Tracks OTIF service performance and identifies/makes corrections with schedulers and operations teams to avoid misses.
- Leads cross‑functional continuous improvement efforts to increase OTIF.
- Acts as primary point of contact for Production Planning and liaison with Commercial, Logistics, and Manufacturing departments.
- Manages “distressed orders” and other expedited order issues, and provides status updates with ISR’s.
- Owner of new product introduction (NPI) workflow process, managing requests for raw/semi‑finished materials, publishing lead times for product lines.
- Participates in plant meetings and Gemba walks to align scheduling with operational plans and respond to interruptions.
- Provides input to Site Leadership on continuous improvements and campaign management.
- Manages inventory of raw materials, intermediates, and finished goods for three plants; owns SAP management of packaging materials and safety stock levels.
- Identifies capacity bottlenecks and develops mitigation plans with Operations.
- Participates in supply meetings with Sales and Operations Team; leads additional planning meetings with Sales, Production, Logistics, Purchasing, and Customer Service staff.
- Leads furnace and tungsten planning meetings and develops detailed scheduling process documentation, working toward a common SAP‑based process.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Engineering, or Business Administration.
- 10+ years of experience in supply chain, commercial, or operations roles.
- Proficient in SAP and Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent analytical skills and strong process mindset.
- Professional certification by the American Production and Inventory Control Society (APICS).
- Experience with supply‑chain planning, scheduling, logistics, and purchasing.
- Experience with S‑4 Hana implementation.
- Six Sigma/Lean and continuous improvement experience.
- Commercial Team, Supply Chain, Quality, Manufacturing, Logistics.
Based in Newark, OH manufacturing site – 4 days per week onsite; 10%–20% travel to Willoughby and Highland Plant, Ohio.
Working ConditionsSenior Manufacturing setup;
Salaried position with variable compensation (base salary and bonus). Variable compensation depends on experience, education, and training.
