Fisheries Biologist 2
We are seeking energetic, passionate people who enjoy the outdoors and want to play a key role for two Fisheries Biologist 2 positions within the Division of Wildlife. One position will be headquartered in Licking County at the Hebron State Fish Hatchery. The address is 101517 Canal Road, Hebron, Ohio 43025. One position will be headquartered in Athens County at the District 4 Headquarters.

What you will do… Evaluates existing fish management programs and develops new research and management projects, servicing as principal investigator on studies involving fish age & growth, population dynamics, recruitment, mortality, exploitation, stocking strategies, and regulatory impacts. Conducts and oversees field surveys of fisheries and aquatic communities (e.g., fish, angler, plankton, aquatic plants, limnological conditions) using appropriate sampling gear. Designs, coordinates, and oversees fisheries and angler access projects, determining project requirements, sampling designs, staffing needs, procedures, schedules, budgets, and equipment purchases to support unit and statewide objectives.
Uses appropriate statistical methods to collate, analyze, model, and interpret biological and environmental data, manages databases and analytical programs, drafts technical reports and peer-reviewed publications, and presents technical information at scientific meetings. Communicates technical and scientific information to the public and stakeholders, prepares news releases and articles, provides presentations and media responses, represents the division on professional committees.
Starting hourly pay of $28.76/hr with multiple pay increases over your first 5.5 years of service, with an end salary of $38.01/hr there may also be cost of living adjustments (COLA) applied. Longevity pay supplements begin after five (5) years of state service. For more details, refer to the OCSEA pay range schedule & longevity rates.

Qualifications:
Completion of undergraduate core program in fisheries science AND 24 mos. trg. or 24 mos. exp. in management & coordination of fisheries projects.
-Or completion of graduate core program in biological sciences to include 6 courses in fisheries science & 2 courses in statistics; (e.g., fisheries management, fishery techniques, limnology, ichthyology, fish biology, fish ecology, aquatic entomology), 6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. in management & coordination of fisheries projects.
-Or completion of graduate core program in fisheries science AND 6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. in management & coordination of fisheries projects.
-24 mos. trg. or 24 mos. exp. as Fisheries Biologist 1, 22271.
