Position Overview: This role is within the Oncology department, based at UAB St. Vincent's East, and involves full-time night shifts (3 - 12 hour shifts from 7pm to 7am). The unit is a 22-bed oncology unit that also cares for medical-surgical patients with conditions such as pneumonia, COPD, CHF, and diabetes, performing procedures like biopsies and cholecystectomies.
Responsibilities: Responsible for coordinating staffing, providing leadership, and ensuring quality patient care. Duties include assigning, educating, and monitoring nursing/support staff, conducting performance evaluations, assessing patient needs, developing care plans, evaluating care effectiveness, responding to patient care complaints, and contributing to staff hiring and training.
Qualifications: Must be a licensed RN by the Alabama Board of Nursing, with a Diploma from an accredited nursing program, at least 1 year of relevant experience, and BLS certification within 30 days of hire. ACLS and PALS may be required within six months for certain units.
