Business Analyst 3 (04177)
Position within the Business and Financial Services Division in Helena. The Business Analyst 3 provides leadership in establishing Department accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls. Responsibilities include analyzing existing business processes and program requirements, adding value by detailed project objectives, reviewing modifications to processes and systems, recommending solutions for new processes, system components, automation, and organizational changes to improve effectiveness and efficiency.

Qualifications- Extensive knowledge of state accounting procedures, GAAP, GASB statements and Implementation Guides.
- Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.
- Ability to develop, write, and edit accounting and management policies and procedures.
- Judgement and discretion to establish and maintain strong working relationships; strong collaboration, facilitation, and project management skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, or finance with accounting emphasis.
- Five years progressively responsible accounting experience, including three years governmental accounting experience. Experience with fiscal applications and the state accounting system (i.e., SABHRS) required.
- Other combinations of related education and experience may be considered on a case‑by‑case basis.

Additional InformationPosition may be eligible for statutory $1.00 an hour base pay increase effective July 1, 2026. May be eligible for partial telework within Montana. Telework schedule must be supervisor approved.
