At Helena Public Schools, our vision is to foster dynamic educational experiences that prepare all students for life. As a High School Counselor, you will work as part of a team that serves nearly 8,000 students across 18 campuses in Helena. This 0.5‑FTE position is scheduled for 7 hours a day over a 187‑day contract. The starting salary range is $52,275–$70,833 based on education and experience.

- Plan, organize, and deliver the district counseling program.
- Implement the district guidance curriculum through effective instructional skills and structured group sessions for all students.
- Provide individual planning support, guiding students and their parents or guardians through educational and career planning.
- Offer responsive services via individual and small‑group counseling, consultation, and referral skills.
- Support the school counseling program management and assist other educational programs.
- Discuss the counseling department management system and program action plans with the school administrator.
- Collect and analyze data to guide program direction and emphasis.
- Monitor students regularly as they progress through school.
- Use time and calendars to implement an efficient program.
- Develop results evaluation for the program.
- Conduct yearly program audits.
- Serve as a student advocate, leader, collaborator, and systems change agent.
To be considered, you must hold a Class six (6) Montana Specialist Certificate with a school counselor endorsement. The ideal candidate will possess multiple endorsement areas and at least one year of successful high‑school counseling experience. Candidates must also complete a background check prior to employment.
