Position SummaryHDR Engineering seeks an experienced Irrigation Leader to lead our irrigation practice. The Civil Engineering Lead will coordinate, manage, and execute the planning and design of hydraulic/irrigation‑focused civil design projects, leading a team of professionals in producing studies, designs, reports, and specifications for diverse hydraulic facilities.
Responsibilities- Direct and coordinate work of single or multidisciplinary teams throughout the project lifecycle.
- Manage all aspects of complex small‑to‑medium projects or routine large projects.
- Produce and coordinate several small‑to‑medium projects concurrently.
- Establish and maintain client relations and participate in marketing, contractual, design, and production meetings.
- Conduct work sessions for deliverable development with staff and stakeholders.
- Coordinate staffing and workload through the entire project life cycle, ensuring completion of deliverables on schedule.
- Track financial aspects of projects and adjust work effort to maintain budget and schedule parameters.
- Collaborate with Accounting, Operations, and Business leadership for periodic project reviews.
- Implement QA/QC procedures.
- Perform other duties as needed.
- Master’s degree.
- 10+ years civil engineering experience, with emphasis on design and irrigation preferred.
- Commitment to quality, improvement, and HDR values.
- Experience in planning studies, design, and irrigation.
- Excellent writing and communication skills.
- Professional engineering registration and related technical experience managing diverse teams.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a project team.
- Active participation in an employee‑owned culture is a must.
- Experience with water storage reservoirs, pumping plants, river diversions, conveyance and control facilities, hydropower, and erosion control desirable.
- Experience in business development for irrigation projects and working with irrigation districts, the Bureau of Reclamation, and the Natural Resources Conservation Service desired.
- Experience with the Bureau of Indian Affairs and Tribes also desired.
- Proven ability to mentor and supervise staff.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
- 7 years related experience.
- Minimum 2 years project management experience.
- Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license.
- MS Office and MS Project experience required;
Access experience is a plus. - Demonstrated leadership skills.

Compensation ranges from $109,260 to $156,085 annually, depending on skills, experience, education, and location. (Stated benefits apply to full‑time regular positions;
temporary and part‑time roles are eligible for limited benefits.)
