Join us as a Civil Highway Project Engineer within our Transportation group to be part of this success.

THE ROLE

The Civil Highway Engineer will be responsible for the planning and designing of road and transportation infrastructure, ensuring safety, efficiency, and environmental considerations. The primary project focus will be on federal highways, high‑speed, multi‑lane systems, and bridges for DOT clients. These responsibilities include:

  • Work with clients to understand their vision and scope of the project.
  • Analyze survey data, traffic patterns, and other relevant data to optimize road design and ensure functionality and safety.
  • Guide design and entry‑level engineers on project designs, drafting plans, drawings, and modeling according to project specifications.
  • Lead project tasks and/or project phases.
  • Become the technical lead and engineer of record for larger project areas.
  • Utilize design software to support project designs, drafting plans, drawings, and modeling according to project specifications.
  • Develop detailed plans for new roads, highways, and related infrastructure.
  • Involved in the improvement of existing road infrastructure, ensuring its continued safety and efficiency.
  • Ensure that engineering designs comply with relevant DOT regulations and safety standards.
  • Draft technical writing pieces such as Requests for Proposals, report writing, project specifications, and memorandums.
  • Provide construction administration services during the construction phase of the project.

YOUR STRENGTHS
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or equivalent ABET‑accredited engineering program
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license preferred or willing to obtain after‑hire
  • Minimum of 5+ years of US‑based experience in highway and roadway civil design engineering for federal and state projects
  • Minimum of one year of project engineering experience leading small teams and project phases
  • Working knowledge of federal and state roadway regulations and processes
