Helena, Montana

Salary Range: $58,440 - $93,500 (base)

Eligibility and Target Applicants

Eligible applicants include veterans, transitioning military members, National Guard and Reserve members, military spouses, wounded warriors, and their caregivers.

Responsibilities
  • Provide personal financial counseling and management services directly to service members and their families.
  • Assist service members in establishing a spending plan for extended absences.
  • Develop and make available informational financial materials to service members and families.
  • Coordinate, publicize, and deliver a variety of personal financial management classes and workshops covering the military lifecycle, including arrival, pre‑ and post‑deployment, and personal and career events outlined in DoDI 1322.34.
  • Respond to requests for age‑appropriate classes or seminars.
  • Utilize virtual counseling or other electronic communication modes (web‑based, secure online chat, video conference) as authorized.
  • Manage duty‑to‑warn situations according to DoD protocol.
  • Communicate with leadership and participate in regular supervision, sharing information about trends and issues on the installation.
  • Participate in regular in‑services, training, quality‑improvement committees, or other contract activities as assigned.
  • Perform any other duties assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required (or associate degree plus four years of experience, or high school diploma plus six years of experience).
  • Minimum of 3 years of financial counseling experience.
  • U.S. citizenship; fluent English required (bilingual in English and Spanish may be required).
  • Ability to obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier 2 security investigation.
  • Must pass the Congressionally Mandated Disclosure for Organizational Conflicts of Interest (OCI) process.
  • Must hold one of the following certifications:
    Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC).
  • High School or GED as the minimum level of education.
