OverviewThe Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) is seeking a Program Officer 2 to work within the Public Health and Safety Division in Helena. This full‑time position focuses on developing and administering statewide and local licensing programs, planning, management, and evaluation, as well as coordinating outreach, training, and related functions to support ongoing program operations.
Responsibilities- Develop, administer, and evaluate statewide and local licensing programs.
- Create individualized program plans and oversee their implementation.
- Coordinate outreach, training, and related functions in support of program operations and activities.
- Analyze program data to identify, interpret, and report findings.
- Ability to identify, analyze, and interpret data.
- Knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping procedures.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, or a public‑health‑related field.
- Three years of job‑related experience.
- Other combinations of related education and experience may be considered on a case‑by‑case basis.

Additional Information- Partial telework may be available within Montana under supervisor approval.
- The position is eligible for a statutory $1.00 an hour base pay increase effective July 1, 2026.
- The agency may use a training assignment; employees in training assignments may be paid below the base pay established by the agency pay rules.
Hourly rate: $30.94 – $30.94. Telework eligible (full‑time telework not available; telework schedule must be supervisor approved). Benefits include health insurance, paid leave & holidays, and a retirement plan.
