Position: Auditing Technician 2 - Withholding Unit

Overview

This position resides in the Business & Income Taxes Division of the Montana Department of Revenue. The department administers multiple tax types and related functions. Auditing technicians perform a variety of duties including examinations of tax returns, adjustments, research, internal and external communications, and participation in the appeal process. The position does not supervise other staff.

Duties

Job Overview: The position is in the Business & Income Taxes Division (BIT). BIT’s auditing technicians perform duties assigned by management, including simple examinations of various tax returns, adjusting tax returns, conducting research, communication, and participation in the appeal process. They also provide support for other unit operations and complex examination activities. The position does not supervise staff.

Remote/Telework

This position may be eligible to work from an approved worksite within the state of Montana. Telework requires reporting to a Department of Revenue office assigned by the supervisor and meeting telework eligibility requirements. Telework is approved after training is complete.

Training Assignment

The agency may use a training assignment. Employees in training assignments may be paid below the base pay. Conditions of the training assignment will be stated in writing at the time of hire.

Special Information:

Education / Experience

Typically acquired through a combination of education and experience equivalent to:

  • High School Diploma or GED qualification
  • One year of professional work experience is preferred, but not required, in accounting, money management, banking, bookkeeping or related fields
  • Other combinations of education and experience are evaluated on an individual basis
Salary and Benefits

Salary: 47,998. yearly. Telework eligibility:
Telework is eligible (full-time telework is not available; schedule must be supervisor approved). Benefits package eligibility:
Health Insurance, Paid Leave & Holidays, Retirement Plan.
