Cosmetology Instructor

Overview

Helena College is seeking qualified applicants to become part of a dynamic and creative team for two full-time positions as a Cosmetology Instructor. • Instruct, lead, mentor, and motivate students to achieve success, preparing them for their licensure exam and future career in cosmetology.
• Teach both in the classroom and in the salon, which is open to the Helena community.
• Collaborate with each other and with the Director to ensure the program meets the requirements set forth by the Montana Board of Barbers and Cosmetologists while providing the highest quality education for the students.

• A current Montana Cosmetology license in good standing, issued by the Montana State Board of Barbers and Cosmetologists, or an active cosmetology license from another state and the ability to apply for recognition of the license by the Montana State Board of Barbers and Cosmetologists.
• At least 3 years of experience in cosmetology.
• An active instructor license through the Montana State Board of Barbers and Cosmetologists, or the ability to obtain one by the start date. Applicants without an instructor license must meet all license requirements set by the board.
• A thorough understanding of the cosmetology industry and hair, nail, and skin care services.
• An interest in teaching cosmetology students at Helena College.
• Experience working in and/or managing a salon, both services and retail.
• Employees must be eligible to work lawfully in the United States. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

The Cosmetology program runs Monday through Saturday across all three semesters. Full‑time instructors will be on contract for two of the three semesters. No one is expected to work more than five days in a week, though the specific days may vary between Monday and Saturday.
