Mobile Crisis Response Therapist FTE

The Mobile Crisis Response Team provides 24/7, community‑based
, in‑person behavioral health crisis response across homes, public spaces, schools, shelters, healthcare settings, and other community locations. MCRT pairs a licensed clinician or licensure‑candidate clinician with an allied responder to deliver trauma‑informed crisis intervention, safety assessment, stabilization, and rapid connection to ongoing supports.

The Mobile Crisis Response Therapist (Level I or II) serves as a core clinical member of the Mobile Crisis Response Team. This role provides on‑scene crisis assessment
, de‑escalation
, safety planning
, and care coordination for individuals experiencing mental health, substance use, or co‑occurring crises.

Hiring levels depend on candidate qualifications:

• Therapist I: Licensure‑candidate clinician (SWLC or PCLC), practicing under supervision.
• Therapist II: Fully licensed clinician (LCSW, LCPC, or eligible mental health professional per MCA 53‑21‑102).

Both roles provide in‑person crisis services as part of an interdisciplinary team and support the mission of stabilizing individuals in the least restrictive setting possible.

• Respond immediately to crisis dispatches using a hospital‑provided vehicle.
• Conduct mental status and risk assessments using standardized tools.
• Provide trauma‑informed crisis intervention, de‑escalation, and brief therapeutic support.
• Collaborate with allied responders (peer support, CHW, EMT, master's‑level trainee, etc.).
• Determine disposition and level of care, including safety planning and care coordination.
• Coordinate transportation when clinically indicated, emphasizing non‑law‑enforcement options.
• Communicate effectively with law enforcement, first responders, and community partners.
• Complete timely clinical documentation, reports, and required Medicaid‑compliant billing workflows.
• Provide follow‑up outreach for up to 14 days post‑crisis to ensure referrals and continued support.
• Participate in required training, supervision, and administrative meetings.
• Conduct community outreach during low call volume to support prevention and engagement.

• Master’s degree in Social Work or Counseling.
• Active Montana SWLC or PCLC licensure.
• 1–3 years related clinical experience (crisis experience preferred).

• Master’s degree in Social Work or Counseling.
• Active Montana LCSW or LCPC (or eligible mental health professional per MCA criteria).
• 2–3+ years of clinical experience required.

• Valid Montana driver’s license with clean record.
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
• Strong skills in assessment, crisis intervention, documentation, communication, and conflict resolution.
• Ability to function in high‑stress environments with professionalism and empathy.
