The Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) has a career opportunity within the Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities Division.
The Behavioral Health Crisis and Systems Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the management and implementation of Montana’s Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics (CCBHCs), the Crisis Diversion Grant (CDG) program, and other crisis-oriented services, ensuring a coordinated crisis response continuum statewide. This position provides program and fiscal oversight of a multi-million-dollar annual budget, including monitoring expenditures, projecting costs, identifying risks, and taking necessary action to maintain operations within budget and in compliance with federal and state requirements.

Qualifications for this Career Opportunity- Extensive knowledge of program management and organizational principles.
- Extensive knowledge of quality assurance and quality improvement principles, practices, and review processes.
- Extensive knowledge of federal and state program policies, mandates, directives, and intents.
- Considerable knowledge of federal and state budgeting processes.
- Thorough knowledge of concepts and practices of community-based behavioral health care, crisis systems, member-directed care, issues surrounding freedom of choice, and social, psychosocial, and community impacts on members and their families.
- Broad-based knowledge of grant and contract management practices, including crisis-focused grants and federal funding opportunities.
- Knowledge of personnel management, supervision, and leadership.
- Strong skills in analytics, planning, organization, conflict resolution, and oral and written communication, including the ability to interpret complex data related to crisis utilization and diversion outcomes.
- Strong skills in operating a personal computer and general office equipment as necessary to complete essential functions, including word processing, management information systems, databases, e-mail, internet, Microsoft products, and other software.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking.
- Skills in the utilization of spreadsheet data; database development and applications; negotiation; and public relations to effectively represent the bureau or division in communicating complex and sometimes controversial issues to consumers, legislators, providers, stakeholders, and the public.
- Ability to work independently and willingness to work with people in a positive and productive manner to build effective working relationships and resolve issues.
