Job Description – Capitol Custodian (Evening Shift) )
OverviewThe State of Montana Department of Administration seeks an energetic, service‑oriented individual to maintain the cleanliness and appearance of the Montana Capitol building and adjacent facilities. The position is a full‑time, evening shift role that supports the legislature and other state functions.
Responsibilities- Clean floors, restrooms, walls, glass, and other surfaces using proper custodial techniques and chemicals.
- Remove rubbish, sweep, mop, and perform routine upkeep activities.
- Assist with event set‑up and clean‑up, including maintaining the Capitol’s historic features.
- Respond to emergencies involving biohazards or food and beverage spills.
- Notify management promptly when repair or maintenance is required.
- Operate cleaning machinery, equipment, and tools safely and efficiently.
- Use computer for timekeeping, data entry, and electronic communications.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Experience in custodial work is preferred but not required.
- Ability to work collaboratively, maintain a positive attitude, and handle tasks in a dynamic environment.
- Proficiency with chemical cleaning agents and safe work practices.
- Capability to work in diverse weather conditions across Montana.
- Completion of a criminal background check is required for this position.
