Position: Day Custodian

Immediate opening for a Day Custodian for Rossiter Elementary School

At Helena Public Schools, our vision is to foster dynamic educational experiences that prepare all students for life. As the Day Custodian at Rossiter Elementary School, you contribute to this mission by keeping the building and grounds in a state of operating excellence that presents no problems or interruptions to the education program. You will work as part of a team of 70+ custodians serving 8,000 students and 18 campuses across Helena.

Some

of what you will do

• Cleans and preserves designated spaces, equipment, etc. in the building.
• Restocks disposable items and provides day maintenance person with inventory usage and data.
• Performs ongoing preventative maintenance and minor repair on plumbing, custodial equipment, building structure and hardware.
• Performs minor electrical maintenance and repairs.
• Performs light maintenance as needed.
• Assists the visiting public utilizing school facilities with directions within the building and in obtaining and setting up needed equipment and/or materials.
• Maintains building and grounds security by closing the building each school day and during special events.
• Assists in maintaining seasonal grounds work (snow, lawn) etc.

To become part of this dedicated team, you need

• Successful applicant must possess or secure a Montana Class 1 Low Pressure Boilers’ license within six (6) months of employment date.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Up to three (3) months of related experience and/or training.
• Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience as determined by the District.

Essential functions of the position include the ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds such as cleaning supplies, pails and unloading trucks. Occasionally the employee will lift and/or move up to 100 pounds such as bulk furniture with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Current entry level salary is $17.39 per hour without in-district applicable experience and includes a comprehensive benefit package including 15 paid vacation days per calendar year, 12 available paid sick days per calendar year, 12 paid holidays, 2 paid personal days, health benefits and retirement.
