Position Title:
Maintenance Worker II - Lead.
Organization:
Lewis & Clark County, Public Works.
Pay Rate: $20.20 per hour to $21.39 per hour.
Position Type/Status:
Regular, Full-time, Non-exempt.
Closing date:

Under general supervision from the Buildings Maintenance Supervisor, this position performs routine custodial, deep cleaning, and maintenance duties in County buildings and acts as a lead worker.
Key Responsibilities- Performs routine facilities maintenance, deep cleaning, and custodial tasks.
- Vacuums and deep cleans carpets.
- Dusts and mops common areas.
- Deep cleans as needed.
- Wet mops restrooms and common areas.
- Strips, waxes and buffs common areas.
- Shampoos carpets.
- Cleans restrooms.
- Replenishes restroom supplies.
- Sweeps and dusts stairways and damp mops as needed.
- Dusts and cleans meeting rooms.
- Rearranges large tables and chairs as needed.
- Informs supervisor of needed supplies.
- Performs light maintenance and repairs.
- Replaces light bulbs.
- Checks work areas for security and energy loss.
- Secures buildings and facilities at end of shift.
- Light snow removal, checking for icy conditions, and applying sand.
- Leads and directs the work of others.
- Trains and assists new employees and current employees.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of County policies and procedures.
- Public Works Department policies and procedures.
- Safety regulations and requirements.
- Boiler maintenance and operations.
- Methods, practices, and procedures for custodial and maintenance procedures.
- Ability to operate cleaning equipment, including scrubbing and polishing machinery.
- Operate maintenance equipment, including hand tools and snow removal equipment.
- Understand oral and written instructions.
- Communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Establish effective working relationships with fellow employees, supervisors, and citizens.
Qualifications:
The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this position are acquired through a combination of education and experience equivalent to high school graduation and one (1) year facility maintenance or janitorial/cleaning experience.
One (1) year of lead worker experience preferred.
Special RequirementsMust pass a pre‑employment background check and have a valid driver’s license.
Physical DemandsDuties are generally performed in both indoor and outdoor environments where hazards and discomforts are generally controlled and modifiable. This position requires regular contact with chemicals, fertilizers, and dust. They must be able to stand, twist, stoop, reach, push, pull and lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and 100 pounds on a brief and random basis. The position requires regular contact with fellow employees and citizens.
