Position: ReStore Manager

Organization: Helena Area Habitat for Humanity Re Store

Location: 1320 Market Street Helena, MT 59601

Status: Exempt, Full Time

Reports to: Director of Operations

Work Schedule: 5 days/week, Tuesday to Saturday

Summary/Objective: The ReStore Manager is a leadership role responsible for the overall business performance and day-to-day operations of the Helena Area Habitat for Humanity ReStore. The ReStore is a mission-driven retail operation that sells donated building materials, furniture, and home goods to generate critical revenue in support of Habitat’s mission to build homes, communities, and hope.

The ReStore Manager leads revenue generation, donation acquisition, merchandising, inventory management, and customer experience while supervising staff and volunteers. This role has direct responsibility for achieving sales goals, managing expenses, and creating a safe, welcoming, and efficient retail environment aligned with Habitat’s values.

Responsibilities

Business & Revenue Performance

  • Lead the ReStore as a self-sustaining social enterprise, achieving annual sales, margin, and donation targets.
  • Implement and execute strategies outlined in the ReStore Business Plan.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with contractors, suppliers, businesses, individuals, faith communities, and other partners to increase the quality and quantity of donated merchandise.
  • Analyze sales and inventory data to identify trends, improve inventory turnover, and align procurement with customer demand.
  • Collaborate with affiliate staff on marketing, promotions, and community outreach to increase store visibility and sales.
  • Partner with affiliate Fund Development and Marketing staff on ReStore events (i.e. Spon Con) to raise funds and awareness of the ReStore and Habitat mission.

Operations, Merchandising & Safety

  • Oversee all store, warehouse, and donation receiving operations to ensure efficiency, safety, and a positive customer experience.
  • Establish, implement, and regularly review policies and procedures related to store operations, safety, security, and loss prevention.
  • Ensure effective merchandising, pricing, and inventory control to maximize sales and optimize use of floor and storage space.
  • Oversee scheduling of staff, volunteers, donation pickups, and special events.
  • Ensure all areas of the store, warehouse, restrooms, and exterior spaces are clean, organized, and safe.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA guidelines and organizational safety standards; address incidents promptly and appropriately.

People & Volunteer Leadership

  • Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate ReStore staff; set annual goals and conduct formal performance reviews at least annually.
  • In partnership with the Volunteer Coordinator, recruit, train, and engage volunteers in meaningful roles.
  • Provide ongoing coaching, direction, and support to staff and volunteers, recognizing individual strengths and capabilities.
  • Foster a culture of excellent customer service and ensure issues are resolved professionally and in a timely manner.
  • Supervise volunteers and community work crews.
