Infection Prevention & Workforce Safety Coordinator (RN)

Shodair Children’s Hospital is seeking an experienced and highly motivated RN to lead and support infection prevention, employee health, and workforce safety initiatives across our organization.

This position plays a critical role in protecting the health and safety of patients, staff, and visitors by coordinating Shodair’s Infection Prevention and Control Program, Employee Health Program, and workforce safety efforts. The Coordinator partners closely with Quality, Risk, Human Resources, leadership, and clinical teams to ensure regulatory compliance, support employee health services, and drive safety-focused performance improvement initiatives.

This role reports to the Manager of Quality & Risk and works in close partnership with the Human Resources department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage Shodair’s Infection Prevention and Control Program: set annual goals, action plans, and surveillance activities; monitor HAIs, communicable diseases, and outbreak risks; conduct rounds, audits, investigations, and required reporting; oversee antibiotic stewardship and regulatory compliance; provide education and consultation to staff and leadership.
  • Coordinate employee health and occupational health services: manage exposure assessments, follow-up, immunizations, and screenings; track workplace injury and illness trends and prevention efforts; support return-to-work and workers’ compensation processes with HR; apply work restrictions and maintain employee health confidentiality.
  • Support quality improvement and safety initiatives: assist with data collection, analysis, and reporting; help maintain readiness for Joint Commission, CMS, OSHA, and public health requirements; participate in relevant committees and corrective action planning; support emergency preparedness for infectious disease response.
Requirements
  • Education & Experience:

    Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required;
    Current Registered Nurse (RN) license required;
    Minimum of three (3) years of infection control or healthcare nursing experience.
  • Certifications & Licensure:
    Active Montana RN license in good standing;
    Certification in Infection Control (CIC) required within three (3) years of hire and/or Certified Professional in Patient Safety certification required within three (3) years of hire; CPI and Ukeru audit completion required within 3 months of hire (ongoing certification may be required).
  • Preferred

    Skills:

    Strong knowledge of infection prevention principles and best practices;
    Knowledge of CDC, OSHA, CMS, and accreditation requirements;
    Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
    Ability to interpret trends and make data-driven recommendations.
Compensation

Starting at $79,900 annually.
