About the RoleJoin Montana’s only comprehensive, statewide Medical Genetics program. As a Genetic Nurse Practitioner at Shodair Children’s Hospital, you will work at the forefront of specialized pediatric and adult care, diagnosing and managing complex hereditary, rare, and metabolic conditions.
Working in close collaboration with board-certified Clinical Geneticists (MD), Licensed Certified Genetic Counselors (LCGC), Registered Dietitians, and Laboratory Analysts, you will play a central role in delivering compassionate, state-of-the-art genetic care across Montana.
Key Responsibilities- Clinical Assessment: Conduct comprehensive diagnostic evaluations, detailed family health histories, and physical examinations for pediatric and adult genetics patients.
- Patient Management: Order, interpret, and manage complex molecular, chromosomal, and biochemical genetic testing; develop personalized, evidence-based care plans.
- Metabolic Clinic Leadership: Oversee clinical follow-ups and long-term care management for patients with inherited metabolic disorders and newborn screening (NBS) actionable findings.
- Statewide Access & Outreach: Utilize cutting-edge telehealth and regional outreach clinics to bring specialized genetic services to rural and underserved Montana communities.
- Multidisciplinary
Collaboration:
Act actively as a core member of a tight-knit, expert clinical team, contributing to patient case conferences and interdisciplinary care planning.
- Education: Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from an accredited institution.
- Licensure: Active, unrestricted Montana APRN license (or license-eligible upon hire) with national board certification (e.g., FNP-C, CPNP, AGNP) and active DEA registration.
- Experience: Prior experience in clinical genetics, pediatrics, rare diseases, or metabolic medicine is highly preferred; passionate new graduates with dedicated clinical exposure to genetics are encouraged to apply.
