Job Description

The Installation and Service Technician Smart Business III is responsible for installation, repair, and maintenance of all low voltage systems for our new and existing customer base. These services are critical for the ongoing customer service experience and satisfaction of our members. As our first full‑time security presence in Cheyenne, this role will also be responsible for building and maintaining local relationships.

This position will work directly with project management and coordination to complete tasks.

Essential Functions
  • System Installation: install and program security, fire, access, and CCTV systems in commercial properties independently; lead fire alarm install jobs up to and including final inspection and close out.
  • Coordination: ensure coordination of final inspection and all other stakeholders; install or add basic electrical outlets when required.
  • Project Oversight: read and understand blueprints and schematics, create as‑builds, delegate tasks, maintain communication with project manager to address scheduling or other job‑related issues.
  • Customer Relations: communicate with customers in full regarding the current job and any changes or issues; maintain relationships with major and multi‑location accounts to ensure satisfaction and retention.
  • Technical Maintenance: perform fire alarm inspections, identify deficiencies and upgrade opportunities; repair, maintain, and upgrade fire alarms, security alarms, CCTV, and access systems.
  • Administrative: ensure delegates assigned to a job or ticket have clocked time correctly and all job costs have been applied; create reports for customer and agency documentation and submittal.
  • Leadership & Support: support service advisors, key account coordinators, and customer support representatives; assist with training and development of technicians and assist the sales team with site walks.
  • Compliance: maintain relationships with municipal and state fire authorities for licensing and inspections; interface with monitoring center management; stay in compliance with company training, policies, and procedures.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Technical Mastery: advanced troubleshooting skills with no assistance; effectively troubleshoot fire, CCTV, access, and intrusion on all levels.
  • Documentation: read and install systems per design drawings and sales proposals.
  • Leadership: lead a job and provide direction and guidance to fellow technicians.
  • Efficiency: high level of efficiency, attention to detail, quality control, teamwork, ability to lead projects and control costs.

    Skills:

    proficient computer skills and basic electrical knowledge.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 5–7 years of experience in the security industry.
  • Must have NICET or CSA II and 3–5 years of experience in the industry OR 10+ years of experience with a strong focus on fire alarm.
  • Must obtain and reinstate an alarm agent license.
  • Must maintain a clean driving record at all times and report any issues within 24 hours to your manager.
  • Must possess all necessary hand tools to complete daily tasks.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in specific systems such as Qolsys, Digital Watchdog, Brivo, and various fire alarm systems such as Notifier, Fire‑Lite, Kidde, and Fireshield.
Working Environment / Minimum

Physical Requirements
  • Employees must be able to climb ladders and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must maintain a professional appearance, as well as company‑provided vehicles.
  • Must maintain a clean and organized workspace.
  • On‑call service rotation required.
Compensation

Hourly Rate: $28.01 – $35.01 per hour
