Montana Early Childhood Account Specialist

Position Title

Early Childhood Services Bureau – Workforce & Professional Development Coordinator

The Early Childhood Services Bureau (ECSB) is dedicated to improving the quality, affordability, and accessibility of early care and education in Montana. This position supports the Montana Early Childhood Account Board (MECAB) in evaluating, developing, and implementing workforce and professional development initiatives as prioritized in HB 924.

• Support the appointed board in creating and adopting administrative rules, policies, manuals, rules and regulations to comply with HB 924.
• Provide staff support to the board.
• Monitor contracts and grantees' compliance and performance.
• Develop and implement data systems for program requirements.
• Conduct data analysis, identify program needs, and generate solutions for continuous improvement.
• Draft performance and compliance reports for public dissemination, including required annual legislative reports.

• Ability to plan, organize, gather information, and conduct research.
• Ability to provide effective and professional customer service.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language, including spelling, composition, and grammar.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, economics, math, or a closely related field.
• Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood, Social Work, Public Administration, Social Science, Statistics, Human Resources, or related field.
• Three years of job‑related experience such as working with advisory boards, non‑profit work, grant implementation, or other closely related experience.
• Other combinations of directly related education and experience may be considered on a case‑by‑case basis.

• Pay range: $33.09 per hour.

• Statutory base pay increase of $1.00 per hour effective July 1, 2026.

• Partial telework eligible within the state of Montana, subject to supervisor approval.
