Social Security Income Specialist

Position :

• Serve as the non‑attorney representative on behalf of SSI claimants at hearings before Administrative Law Judges.
• Evaluate assessments of the child’s medical, social and developmental barriers to determine if the child meets Social Security disability criteria.
• Provide training and assistance to staff on program responsibilities.

• Knowledge and understanding of SSI adjudication process.
• Knowledge of child development and effects of child abuse and disabilities.
• General knowledge of HIPAA.
• Ability to learn laws and regulations related to eligibility issues.
• Knowledge of interviewing techniques.
• Ability to comprehend and analyze complex issues.
• Excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing.
• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Social Services, Public Administration or related field.
• Three years of job‑related experience in SSI program, disability determination, case management or child protective services.
• Knowledge of Montana foster care, federal program funding such as Social Security Disability Determination, or CAPS preferred.
• Other combinations of related education and experience may be considered on a case‑by‑case basis.

Hourly pay: $29.30. Telework eligibility is available with supervisor approval. Benefits package includes health insurance, paid leave and holidays, and retirement plan.

Full‑time, regular schedule. Day shift. Travel up to 5% of the time. Telework is permissible subject to supervisor approval. Position is located in Helena, Montana.
