The Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) has a career opportunity within the Human & Community Services / Intergovernmental Human Services Division.
This position is primarily responsible for transporting and delivering over 9.5 million pounds of USDA purchased food. Operating a semi-tractor trailer, this position makes deliveries to over 270 agencies throughout Montana and 3 tribal organizations in Wyoming and Utah. Responsibilities of this position include:
1) Checking the vehicle to ensure mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order;
2) Inventory and inspects goods to be moved to determine quantities, conditions, temperatures, and so forth. Reports any inconsistencies or problems at recipient agency to the supervisor;
3) Maintaining vehicle logs following applicable state and federal regulations such as weight limitations fuels and permit logs. The supervisor assigns the routes. Duties are performed independently without direct supervision.

Qualifications for this Career Opportunity- Knowledge of semi-tractor trailer capabilities.
- Skill in operating a conventional sleeper tractor with 48 ft.refrigerated trailer.
- Knowledge of interstate trucking rules and regulations.
- Knowledge of vehicle repairs and maintenance requirements.
- Ability to provide effective and professional customer service.
- Ability to develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others maintaining them over time.
- Ability to perform basic math calculations such as addition, subtraction, and multiplication.
- Ability to operate a personal computer and general office equipment as necessary to complete essential functions, including using spreadsheets, word processing, database, email and other computer programs.
- Knowledge of food transportation and storage procedures.
- Knowledge of forklift operation.
- High school diploma or its equivalent.
- 5 years of job-related experience in driving semi-tractor trailers.
- Montana CDL Class A license is required.
- Other combinations of directly related education and experience may be considered on a case‑by‑case basis.
