Outdoor Childcare Practitioner

Drumfork Family Centre Ltd operates Drumfork Nursery and Forest School, a purpose-built nursery located in Helensburgh. The nursery provides a nurturing environment with three primary rooms:
Calm Waters for babies, Little Pebbles for toddlers, and Making Waves for pre-schoolers. A dedicated Forest School site encourages outdoor learning, while all indoor spaces have free-flow access to outdoor areas, fostering exploration with authentic and open-ended resources.

This is a full-time, on-site role as an Outdoor Childcare Practitioner based in Helensburgh. The role involves supporting the care and development of children through a mix of guided learning and free play. The practitioner will plan and deliver outdoor learning experiences that promote skills like creativity, problem-solving, and reasoning. Using authentic, open-ended resources, the practitioner will foster children’s curiosity and independence, ensuring a safe and engaging environment for all activities.

• Experience and skills in early years education, including knowledge of child development and play-based learning principles
• Outdoor learning expertise, including skills in using natural materials and creating engaging outdoor learning environments
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with children, families, and colleagues effectively
• Basic understanding of fire and tool skills training is an advantage
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team and adapt to a hands‑on childcare setting
• Relevant qualifications such as SVQ Social Services (Children and Young People) or equivalent is preferred
• Paediatric First Aid certification is desirable
• Passion for outdoor learning and fostering creativity and exploration in young children
