Pay Range: $75,000 – $140,000 annually, DOE
Paso Robles Tank, Inc. is seeking a Licensed Civil Engineer to join its on-site engineering and CAD team in Hemet, CA. This position is responsible for the structural design, analysis, and documentation of welded and bolted steel storage tanks used in municipal and industrial applications. The ideal candidate has a strong civil or structural engineering foundation, the ability to work within established industry codes, and an interest in developing specialized expertise in steel tank design.
This is an on-site position requiring daily collaboration with engineering, fabrication, and CAD personnel.
- Perform structural engineering analysis and design for welded and bolted steel storage tanks.
- Apply applicable industry codes and standards including AWWA, API, and NFPA requirements.
- Prepare engineering calculations, design reports, and supporting documentation.
- Develop and review technical drawings in coordination with CAD designers.
- Collaborate with fabrication and production teams to ensure designs are practical and manufacturable.
- Review project specifications and ensure compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements.
- Support design revisions, engineering clarifications, and technical problem-solving during fabrication.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to engineering processes, design efficiency, and standardization.
- Maintain accurate and organized engineering records and files.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related engineering discipline.
- Licensed Civil Engineer (Professional Engineer preferred).
- Strong understanding of civil and/or structural engineering principles.
- Ability to work on-site daily in Hemet, CA.
Preferred Qualifications
- Eight (8) or more years of engineering experience (eligible for higher compensation range).
- Experience with steel structures, storage tanks, or industrial/manufacturing design.
- Familiarity with welded and bolted steel tank systems.
- Experience working within regulated engineering codes and standards.
- Proficiency with engineering and design software, including Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, STAAD, and Microsoft Excel.
- Knowledge areas:
Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Steel Structures, Storage Tank Design, API 650, API 653, AWWA Standards, NFPA 22. - Welding and tank design concepts; ability to interpret engineering codes, drawings, and specifications.
- Effective written and verbal communication; ability to work collaboratively in a team-based environment.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
This position operates in a professional office and engineering design environment with regular interaction with fabrication and production operations. Conditions may include office-based work and occasional exposure to manufacturing or fabrication areas. Adherence to company safety policies is required when entering shop or production areas.
Physical Requirements- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while performing engineering and computer-based tasks.
- Ability to communicate effectively with team members in office and shop environments.
- Occasional walking, bending, or standing when visiting fabrication or production areas.
- No regular travel required for this position.
