Position OverviewThis role involves managing the nutritional care of patients across all age groups, from infants to geriatrics, by assessing nutritional status and developing, implementing, and monitoring individualized care plans. The professional applies specialized knowledge of nutrition, effectively communicates nutrition care principles, and collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain a safe and clean work environment, adhering to unit safety and infection control protocols.
- Conduct patient interviews to assess nutritional needs and develop goal-oriented nutrition care plans.
- Coordinate care plans with other healthcare providers to deliver a team-based approach.
- Provide tailored education to patients regarding their nutritional requirements.
- Proficient in performing numerical calculations related to nutritional values, enteral feedings, modified diets, and parenteral nutrition.
- Strong understanding of chemistry, caloric values, physical properties of foods, and medical diet restrictions.
- Effective communication skills to convey diet therapy instructions to patients and families.
- Valid driver's license required (for home care roles, auto insurance is also necessary).
- Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association Healthcare Provider program required.
- California Children Services (CCS) paneling is preferred but not mandatory.
Employment is contingent upon passing a physical evaluation, drug screening, and background checks. Compliance with regional COVID-19 vaccination mandates is required, with exceptions considered under approved circumstances.
