The Chemistry Department at Hofstra University ((Use the "Apply for this Job" box below).) invites applications for a non-tenure-track Special Assistant Professor position in Chemistry for the Spring 2026 semester only. Any area spanning chemistry will be considered. Successful candidates will be able to teach chemistry courses (lecture and lab), especially general chemistry courses (lecture and lab) and will have the opportunity to teach other courses in their area of expertise.
A typical teaching load alternates between 2 and 3 courses per semester. The Chemistry Department serves only undergraduate students, with small class sizes (10-20) for junior and senior majors. The Chemistry Department offers undergraduate degrees in Biochemistry and Chemistry (with ACS accreditation), as well as Forensic Science.
Qualifications
* Ph.D in chemistry or related field required by time of employment.
* Experience teaching undergraduate chemistry/chemistry courses
* Successful candidates will have demonstrated a commitment to promoting equity, diversity and inclusion in an educational environment
Preferred Quals Summary
* Postdoctoral or industry work experience
* Previous teaching experience with undergraduate students
* Instructor-of-record for undergraduate chemistry course(s)

Salary/Salary Range $42,500-$47,500
