The Maurice

A. Deane School of Law invites applications for an opening for an assistant/associate professor/professor of legal writing. This candidate will begin with the title of Assistant, Associate or Professor depending on their experience. This is a full-time faculty position with a two-year contract, commencing in the Fall of 2026. Upon successive renewals, this position could lead to eligibility for presumptively renewable five-year contracts.

Scholarship is encouraged, though not required, and Legal Writing Faculty are eligible to receive summer research stipends.

Qualifications
  • A JD degree is required.
  • Bar admission in any U.S. jurisdiction.
  • Demonstrated excellence in legal research, writing, analysis, and oral communication skills.
Preferred Quals Summary
  • Hofstra is particularly interested in applicants with previous experience teaching legal writing, although this is not mandatory.

$90,000-$132,000

* as a good faith estimate of the starting pay range which considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience and education.
