The Department of Music at Hofstra University is pleased to invite applications for two Adjunct Faculty of Music for the Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 semesters.

The successful candidates' responsibilities may include:
* Teaching sections of first- and second-year Music Theory (MUS 069, 070A), Ear Training (MUS 061A, 062A, 063, and 064), and Orchestration (MUS 166) for Music Majors.
* Supporting student development in music and musicianship that prepares them for a wide range of further educational and vocational activities including music as a component.
* Supporting students in gaining skills in performing and analyzing music of the common-practice period ), with supplemental examples from folk and popular music.
* The successful candidate will be expected to teach 6-8 semester hours.
* Classes are held twice a week or three times a week.
* The duration of each class is 55 minutes.
Qualifications
* Have completed a Master's or PhD, or close to completion, in Music Theory and/or Composition.
* Be a dedicated teacher and active researcher.
* Previous teaching experience is required.
Preferred Quals Summary
* Demonstrated success in teaching undergraduate classes.
