Description
- The Hofstra College of Liberal Arts and Sciences is pleased to invite applications for an Adjunct Instructor position in the Department of Comparative Literature, Languages, and Linguistics at Hofstra University. The Department of Comparative Literature, Languages, and Linguistics welcomes applications in American Sign Language. Characteristic duties and responsibilities of the position outlined in bullet format (if possible). The position will involve planning, teaching, and evaluating students in American Sign Language courses from beginner through intermediate levels.
Qualifications - MA in teaching ASL or equivalent Deaf-related field, demonstrated fluency in expressive and receptive ASL, experience in teaching ASL 001, 002, 003 using the materials of the Hofstra ASL curriculum, Signing Naturally;
Smith, Lentz, Mikos, 2008 edition, proof of ongoing professional development, knowledge of Deaf history and culture and experience in the Deaf community.
Preferred Quals Summary - 6 semesters within the past 5 years teaching college level, credit-bearing ASL courses is preferred.

Salary/Salary Range - $1,458-$1,585 per credit hour

* as a good faith estimate of the starting pay range which considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience and education.
