Are you passionate about supporting Behavioral Health & Justice Involved Populations and making a real difference in their lives? EAC Network, a leading not-for-profit social service agency dedicated to helping over 80,000 people through 120 impactful programs across Long Island and NYC, is looking for a dedicated Part Time Peer Mentor to join the Nassau County Problem Solving Court Case Management & Recovery Support Services program for up to 14 hours per week!
- Wage: $28 per hour
- Schedule: Up to 14 hours per week
- Location: 99 Main Street Room L88 in Hempstead NY
The Peer Mentor is responsible for providing on-going culturally responsive and appropriate support for clients referred to the program by fostering positive relationships with program participants and facilitating groups.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
- Participate in planning for services for clients, through face-to-face meetings and facilitation of group discussions.
- Assist program participants in completing required assignments.
- Meet with clients on an on-going, as needed basis on and off site and be available via email and phone for support, advice, and guidance.
- Participate in team meetings.
- Participate in regularly scheduled on-going training and supervision.
- Assist in connecting clients to community-based support resources, clubhouses, and other ancillary services.
- Maintain client charts and notes, update after each interaction with client and have available for inspection by supervision at any time.
- Assist Case Managers in maintaining caseloads.
- Perform all other relevant duties as determined by Supervision and EAC NETWORK Administration.
- High School diploma or educational equivalent required.
- Peer certification credential or prior experience as a peer support advocate/specialist preferred.
- Experience with drug courts or justice- involved adults preferred. Lived experience welcomed.
- Must have good communication skills, both oral and written.
- Ability to work cooperatively with treatment provider and the criminal justice system.
- Knowledge of target population and area resources. Experience with group facilitation and using cognitive behavioral therapies, motivational interviewing and/or positive youth development preferable.
- Must be proficient in computer applications or other automated systems such as spreadsheets and Microsoft Office applications.
