• The teacher shall utilize an appropriate variety of material and activities to facilitate the lesson objectives.
• Concentrate on achieving a high rate of time on task with students where they are engaged in instructional involvement.
• Demonstrate a caring attitude with students.
• Utilize effective questioning techniques in the instructional process.
• Incorporate effective motivational strategies.
• Actively monitor student learning and assume responsibility for student progress.
• Assume responsibility for student behavior and work toward a positive student/teacher relationship.
• Comply with all board and school building policies and procedures.
• Work within the philosophical framework of the school board, building and departmental assignments.
• Attend all regular and special faculty meetings unless prevented by illness or excused by principal.
• Take part in curriculum research, study groups, and other professional activities to the extent they do not affect classroom work.
• Demonstrate a high standard of professional dress.
• Show acceptable mastery of written and spoken word.
• Prepare lesson plans directly related to objectives being taught.
• Keep plans current and available for substitute teacher.
• Practice a friendly and cooperative attitude with students, colleagues, parents, and superiors.
• Assume a share of extended school activities and demonstrate willingness to participate in school/community affairs.
• Show understanding and concern for academic and social welfare of students.
• Maintain a neat and orderly classroom conducive to learning.
• Direct student learning at a rate commensurate to student capability.
• Assist students to make up missed work due to legitimate absences.
• Use only acceptable disciplinary methods in compliance with policies.
• Strive to understand all sides before administering discipline.
• Set an example, avoid prejudice against individuals or minority groups.
• Discuss with parents/guardians openly and courteously about student progress or problems.
• Respect rights of parents/guardians regarding welfare and development of students.
• Maintain high standards of conduct and attitude at all times.
• Take advantage of opportunities to upgrade professional skills through committees, workshops, and organizations.
• Accept outside employment only when it does not interfere with duties and is not detrimental.
• Perform any other duties as assigned.
