Music Teacher (Grades 6-8) - North Middle School

Job SummaryPosition of Music Teacher for grades 6-8 at North Middle School in Henderson, Kentucky. This role involves delivering music instruction, maintaining classroom management, collaborating with colleagues, and participating in school activities.
Key Responsibilities- Utilize a variety of materials and activities to facilitate lesson objectives.
- Achieve a high rate of time on task and engage students in instructional involvement.
- Demonstrate a caring attitude toward students.
- Use effective questioning techniques in instruction.
- Incorporate motivational strategies when working with students.
- Monitor student learning continuously and assume responsibility for current student progress.
- Address classroom behavior and promote a positive student-teacher relationship.
- Comply with all board and school building policies and procedures.
- Work within the philosophical framework of the school board, building, and departmental assignments.
- Attend all regular and special faculty meetings, except when excused.
- Engage in curriculum research, study groups, and professional development without compromising classroom work.
- Maintain a professional appearance while employed by the board of education.
- Show mastery of written and spoken English.
- Prepare lesson plans directly related to teaching objectives and keep them accessible to substitute teachers.
- Practice a friendly, cooperative attitude with students, colleagues, parents, and superiors.
- Share responsibilities in extended school activities and participate in community affairs.
- Show concern for academic and social welfare of students.
- Maintain a neat, orderly classroom conducive to learning.
- Adjust instruction to match student capabilities.
- Assist students in making up missed work due to legitimate absences.
- Use acceptable discipline methods in line with school policies.
- Understand all sides of a problem before administering discipline.
- Serve as a positive role model, avoiding prejudice against individuals or minority groups.
- Welcome opportunity to discuss student progress with parents and guardians in an open-minded, courteous manner.
- Respect parents/guardians rights and cooperate in student welfare.
- Maintain high standards of conduct and professionalism to uphold the dignity of the profession.
- Improve professional skills through committees, workshops, and organizations.
- Accept outside employment only if it does not interfere with duties or professional reputation.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the administration.
- Kentucky teaching certification in the appropriate subject area.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
- Physical capacity to perform job duties.
- Completion of TB risk assessment.
- State or national criminal background check, child abuse notification check, and drug screening.

Scheduled for 185 days during the 2026-27 school year.
