The Food Processing Technologist supports pilot plant and processing operations with a focus on the cereal platform during second shift. This role is responsible for independently setting up, sanitizing, and operating equipment for product trials while maintaining rigorous food and human safety standards. The ideal candidate is technically skilled, mechanically inclined, and comfortable leading sanitation, troubleshooting, and cross-platform operational support in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
ResponsibilitiesSet up, sanitize, and operate processing equipment for cereal and cross-platform product trials.
Lead and verify equipment sanitation activities to ensure compliance with food and human safety standards.
Perform risk assessments and proactively identify, elevate, and resolve safety concerns.
Support maintenance, electrical, and controls troubleshooting with a strong technical focus.
Execute complex equipment setups and optimize unit operations for efficient trial runs.
Train and coach team members on systems, standard operating procedures, and safety practices.
Flex across platforms, shifts, and schedules to meet evolving business and trial needs.
Safely lift, move, and transport ingredients or equipment up to 55 lbs.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or two-year technical degree with relevant hands‑on experience in processing or plant operations.
Experience operating equipment autonomously in a pilot plant or manufacturing environment.
Strong understanding of food safety and human safety principles.
Mechanical aptitude with the ability to diagnose and resolve technical or operational issues.
Proficiency with basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office and related systems).
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced, changing environment.
Demonstrated ability to train or support others in operational settings.
Capability to consistently lift and maneuver materials up to 55 lbs.
Prior experience in food manufacturing, food service, laboratory, or CPG environments.
Exposure to cereal processing or grain‑based systems.
Experience supporting product development trials or pilot plant operations.
