Job Description

WELDER (SHOP)

Job Summary:

This position will perform the functions of a skilled welder. They will work from structure plans to weld various parts.

Job Duties:

* Measure, cut, and join appropriate metals to specifications

* Use grinder to smooth and clean as appropriate

* Inspect work and fill/repair as necessary

* Test the strength of each joint during and after project completion

* Identify hazards, defects and needs for adjustments to ensure compliance with applicable codes, laws, working practices, and health and safety

* Clean and maintain all equipment and tools and keep work areas neat

Qualifications:

* Knowledge of MIG welding criteria per QA and passing our skills test

* Operate grinders and torches

* Excellent stamina, strength and dexterity

* Good time-management skills

* Sound understanding of safety rules, regulations, and safe job procedures

* Must be able to assist in other areas as needed and follow all quality procedures

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts consistent with a fabrication shop environment. The employee is occasionally exposed to changing weather conditions and working at moderate heights. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
