Position: Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant, Dialysis & Internal Medicine Nephrology

The University of Cincinnati seeks a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide advanced outpatient dialysis and internal medicine nephrology care. In this role, you will manage chronic kidney disease patients, perform comprehensive assessments, order and interpret diagnostics, and adjust dialysis and medication plans. You will educate patients and families, collaborate with nephrologists and interdisciplinary teams, and contribute to quality improvement and research-focused initiatives in a student-centered, academic environment.

Responsibilities
  • Provide advanced outpatient dialysis and internal medicine nephrology care to adult patients
  • Perform comprehensive histories, physical exams, and ongoing assessments
  • Order, interpret, and act on laboratory tests, imaging, and dialysis parameters
  • Develop and adjust treatment, dialysis, and medication management plans
  • Educate patients and families on kidney disease, dialysis modalities, and self-management
  • Coordinate care with nephrologists, nursing, social work, dietitians, and other providers
  • Document care in the EHR in compliance with regulatory and institutional standards
  • Participate in quality improvement, evidence-based practice, and safety initiatives
  • Support teaching and mentoring of students and trainees in the clinical setting
  • Contribute to UC's mission of research, innovation, and community engagement
  • Advanced clinical assessment and diagnosis
  • Chronic kidney disease and dialysis management
  • Internal medicine/nephrology outpatient care
  • Ordering and interpreting lab and imaging studies
  • Electronic Health Record (EHR) documentation
  • Care coordination and case management
  • Patient and family education
  • Procedural skills related to nephrology (e.g., vascular access assessment)

Qualifications
  • Active Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant license in OH
  • National NP certification (e.g., ANCC or AANP) or NCCPA certification for PAs
  • BLS and ACLS certification
  • Nephrology or dialysis experience preferred
  • Eligibility for DEA registration
