We're looking for an experienced hot‑side service technician to install, diagnose, and repair commercial gas and electric cooking equipment for restaurants, schools, healthcare facilities, and other food service operations across the Evansville Tri‑State area. This is a customer‑facing field role: you'll be dispatched to accounts, troubleshoot equipment on‑site, and get kitchens back up and running.
What You’ll Do- Diagnose and repair commercial cooking equipment: fryers, ranges, griddles, char‑broilers, convection and combi ovens, steamers, steam kettles, tilt/braising pans, holding cabinets, proofers, salamanders, conveyor/deck ovens, and other similar types of commercial kitchen equipment.
- Read electrical schematics and ladder diagrams; use a multimeter to isolate electrical and control faults.
- Perform steam‑equipment service, including generators/boilers, water‑level and safety controls, and descaling.
- Make gas connections and perform leak checks; verify safe operation before returning any unit to service.
- Perform preventive maintenance, calibrations, and safety inspections on customer equipment.
- Handle warranty repairs and accurately document parts, labor, and findings on every service ticket.
- Communicate professionally with kitchen staff and managers, and advise customers on repair vs. replacement.
- Participate in a rotating on‑call/emergency service schedule, including some nights and weekends.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and properly stocked service vehicle.
- 2+ years hands‑on experience servicing commercial cooking equipment, or equivalent experience in commercial gas appliance / gas HVAC service.
- Strong working knowledge of gas systems and combustion, ignition systems, and electrical troubleshooting.
- Ability to read wiring diagrams and use diagnostic tools (multimeter, manometer, combustion analyzer).
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (company vehicle provided).
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in hot kitchen environments, tight spaces, and varied conditions.
- Professional, dependable, and comfortable working independently in customer locations.
- CFESA certification (Base, Gas, Electrical, and/or Steam).
- Factory/authorized service (ASA) certifications from OEMs such as Rational, Frymaster, Pitco, Vulcan, Garland, Henny Penny, Alto‑Shaam, or Middleby brands.
- EPA 608 certification and commercial refrigeration experience — cross‑training between hot side and cold side is a plus.
- Experience with combi ovens and electronic/PID control systems.
- Prior field‑service and direct customer‑service experience.
- Frequent lifting, carrying, bending, kneeling, and reaching; work behind and beneath equipment.
- Exposure to heat, gas, and typical commercial kitchen conditions.
- Extended time driving throughout the service territory.
- On‑call rotation with after‑hours and weekend emergency calls.
- Competitive pay based on experience and certifications.
- On‑call and overtime pay.
- Company service vehicle, tools/uniform allowance, and phone/tablet.
- Health/dental/vision coverage.
- Paid time off and paid holidays.
- Retirement plan.
- Steady, year‑round work with an established Tri‑State company.
- Technical training programs.
