- The Electrical Maintenance Technician is responsible for the electrical installation of equipment in a manufacturing setting, and the repair, installation, and preventative maintenance of plastic production machinery and facility electrical equipment. This includes, building and installing control boxes on new or refurbished equipment, helping the maintenance team solve production maintenance related issues, and may be required to direct the work of contractors who are conducting electrical installation of equipment.

- The Electrical Maintenance Technician is responsible for the electrical installation of equipment in a manufacturing setting, and the repair, installation, and preventative maintenance of plastic production machinery and facility electrical equipment. This includes, building and installing control boxes on new or refurbished equipment, helping the maintenance team solve production maintenance related issues, and may be required to direct the work of contractors who are conducting electrical installation of equipment.
Schedule
: 2nd Shift: 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM Monday - Friday
Responsibilities- Reads and interprets blueprints and electrical code specifications and schematics to effectively troubleshoot, maintain, and repair equipment and defective parts.
- Installs, tests, maintains, and repairs electrical wiring, control devices, and equipment.
- Diagnoses, determines cause, and repairs malfunctioning equipment using test equipment.
- Performs required repairs (electrical and/or mechanical)
- Performs preventative maintenance through inspection of electrical systems, equipment, and components.
- Operates forklift and scissor lift, as needed.
- Participates in training, retraining, and continual improvement processes.
- Has a working knowledge of NEC and wiring methods.
- Maintain and correct maintenance records, including inventory, documents, manuals, drawings, etc.
- Supports the RTP quality policy and customer satisfaction mission by minimizing equipment downtime and lost production capacity.
- Follows safety and health guidelines.
- Other duties/responsibilities as assigned, or apparent.
- Ability to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain industrial equipment in a manufacturing facility.
- Ability to follow equipment manuals and drawings to adjust, align, replace, or repair machinery and keep records such as work orders and test and maintenance reports.
- Electrical troubleshooting required.
- PLC troubleshooting preferred.
- Familiarity with automation programming software helpful.
- Must have general computer skills, ability to read and interpret schematics and blueprints, and is capable of accurately distinguishing colors.
- Must have the ability to communicate effectively and demonstrate courtesy and tack with people in various positions and levels within the company.
- Must have the ability to work overtime and weekends as needed.
Must have ability to work independently, solve problems, and make decisions within the scope of the position with little direction. - Must follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations.
- Must have a positive attitude, be dependable, be flexible, and have excellent attendance.
- Near vision – the ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
- Must be willing to travel and conduct electrical project work at other RTP facilities.
- Must have a valid driver's license with a clean driving record and proof of insurability.
- Attendance is an essential function of the position.
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
- Minimum two-year technical degree in industrial maintenance related field or a combination of education experience required.
- Minimum five years of experience as an Electrical Maintenance Technician preferred
- Plastic extrusion experience helpful; training provided.
- Forklift and Scissor lift experience required.
- Electrical knowledge required.
