Position Summary

The Team Lead has general responsibility for coordinating and overseeing all operational activities assigned daily. Under the direction of the Operations Supervisor, the Team Lead is responsible for oversight of the associates dedicated to warehousing, receiving, and shipping in their area in a manner consistent with company service and cost objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Mentor and train new and existing associates in specific distribution activities to help achieve established customer demands.
  • Train associates on current Standard Operating Procedures including shipping, receiving, picking, and quality control.
  • Assist with forklift operation and certification for new and existing associates.
  • Oversee and coordinate unloading of inbound shipments, orderly stacking of product, and the picking and staging of outbound shipments in accordance with the highest levels of productivity.
  • Verify required inbound/outbound paperwork with drivers, ensuring that all products are properly counted.
  • Efficiently and accurately load orders according to appropriate doors and trailers.
  • Ensure all shipping/receiving/picking functions are processed as defined by Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Research discrepancies that may occur in the shipping and receiving process.
  • Conduct yourself in a professional manner in appearance and communications.
  • Communicate with customers telephonically, electronically, or in person as needed.
  • Prepare required activity reports accurately and efficiently for site management.
  • Use appropriate documentation to ensure all product and/or orders are received or shipped correctly and accurately picked.
  • Verify products and/or orders meet quality standards, including reporting any damages or discrepancies; stack, package, shrink wrap, and label product(s).
  • Report inconsistencies and problems to the Operations Supervisor or Operations Manager.
  • Participate in quality meetings.
  • Know and comply with relevant ISO standards that impact this position, department, and company.
  • Execute all safety protocols and promote safety in job tasks.
  • Maintain cleanliness of warehouse, assist in security, and comply with OSHA/MSDS standards.
  • Participate in safety meetings.
  • Direct the operations of the warehouse work team to achieve prescribed objectives.
  • Assist associates and temporary labor in completing productivity sheets and capture of production and payroll hours.
  • Assist Supervisor in maintaining workforce level for productivity.
  • Participate in establishing work schedules and ensure they are implemented correctly.
  • Assist Operations Supervisor in ensuring associates handle products according to prescribed quality procedures.
  • Participate in department meetings.
  • Initiate action to prevent non-conformities; identify and record problems; recommend solutions through designated channels.
  • Ensure all non-conformities are brought to the attention of the Quality Department.
  • Operate equipment (sit-down, stand-up, reach truck, sweeper scrubber, scissor lift, cherry picker, Aisle Master, or pallet jack) safely and efficiently following prescribed work methods.
  • Maintain active forklift certification.
  • Perform or assist in building, grounds, and equipment maintenance as assigned.
  • Perform other clerical and administrative tasks such as answering telephones, scheduling, appointments, greeting visitors, filing, and record keeping, as guided by site management.
  • Be willing to work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Work overtime as dictated by business.

Compensation

Expected base pay range is $26.30 per hour. Actual compensation will be determined based on job-related factors such as experience, skills, education, certifications, and geographic location.
