Part - Time Senator - Henderson Campus - ASCSN - FY

Job Description

The CSN Extension Campus Senator is responsible for promoting student life and student initiatives at the extension sites, administering programs, surveys, and gauging the student population. The role also includes attending workshops and student development trainings.

• Serve on at least one ASCSN Standing Committee and two ASCSN Ad‑hoc Committees.
• Have the authority to approve By‑Law legislation proposed by the ASCSN By‑law and Constitution Committee with a two‑thirds (2/3) simple majority vote of the entire ASCSN Senate in a regularly scheduled ASCSN Senate meeting.
• Have the authority to pass financial funding items with a simple majority vote in a scheduled ASCSN Senate meeting.
• Have the authority to override a presidential veto with approval by a two‑thirds (2/3) supermajority vote of the ASCSN Senate in a scheduled ASCSN Senate meeting.
• Serve at least 12 hours each week (beyond committee meetings) on senatorial programs and assignments and assist students on the campus they represent while classes are in session.
• May work up to one‑third (1/3) of weekly hours assisting during events held by ASCSN.
• Deliver a brief presentation in one class each month to discuss the department of ASCSN Student Government; the timing of the presentation will be determined by the professor or instructor.
• Dedicate two working hours each week to promote ASCSN Student Government and ASCSN Events, subject to approval from a member of the ASCSN Executive Board.
• Address incidents of nonfeasance by recommending dismissal of charges or referring the allegation to the Grievance Committee and Judicial Board; report findings to the Senate.
• Be removed from the Senate for three unexcused absences from ASCSN Senate and/or Committee meetings in an academic semester.
• Submit a statement of interests at the beginning of the term to the President and keep it up to date.
• Submit proof of enrollment of a minimum of six credits at the campus they represent at the beginning of each semester.

• Student workers must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours each semester at the applicable campus.
• Maintain a semester GPA of 2.25 or higher each semester.
• Maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.50 or higher overall.
• Attend required in‑person training sessions on the dates listed.
• Register for the required coursework by the specified deadlines for Fall 2026 and Spring 2027.

• Hourly rate: $12.95.
• Exempt position, Full‑Time Equivalent 48.8 %.
