Job Description
CSN is seeking part‑time tutors to support students through the Centers for Academic Success. Tutors assist students in improving academic achievement by meeting with students in person or online to clarify learning challenges, strengthen study skills, and reinforce course material. Tutoring may include reviewing class material, discussing effective reading strategies, predicting test questions, formulating ideas for papers, and working through solutions to problems.
Tutoring is intended to supplement classroom instruction.

- Have at least 12 hours of undergraduate work with an earned overall college GPA of at least 3.0 (transcripts must be submitted)
- Have earned a B or higher in the subject applying to tutor
- Demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills while working with students from varied backgrounds and skill levels
- Demonstrate knowledge of effective study skills and strategies during interview and tutoring sessions
- Having previous tutorial experience in subject matter is a definite plus
- Provide a recommendation from a faculty member that teaches the subject you wish to tutor
The maximum amount of hours a tutor can work in the Centers is 20 hours per week. If you are also employed at another department at CSN or any other Nevada State Higher Education Institution, your hours will be combined and you cannot exceed 29 hours at both locations per week.
Salary$15.00 per hour (contingent upon education level)
