Nevada State University invites applications for the position of Assistant/Associate Professor of Teacher Education
- Literacy Education to start either Spring 2027 or Fall 2027, negotiated uponoffer. The Assistant/Associate Professor will contribute to program development and academic leadership. Qualified candidates may be considered for program director or department chairresponsibilities. Nevada State University is designated as aHispanic-Serving Institution and we are looking for candidates witha demonstrated commitment to and success working in diverse,multicultural, and multilingual communities. Our program seeks candidates who are passionate about fostering success among ourhighly diverse student population as well as preparing educators toadvocate in a similar manner for their own students.

Candidates should be able to teach literacy methods courses,particularly courses with a focus on emergent literacy development,and content literacy courses with a focus on reading to learn.

Candidate should be prepared to teach foundational literacy coursesaddressing phonics, phonemic awareness, and evidence-based earlyreading instruction. Candidates should be able to provide examplesof integrating a social justice framework into all courses.

The School of Education (SOE) is an exciting place to be. More than1,200 undergraduate, post-baccalaureate, and graduate students arepursuing licensure programs in elementary and secondary, special education, as well as speech-language pathology and school psychology. In response to a statewide shortage of K-12 educators,speech-language pathologists and school psychologists, Nevada Statehas made a strong commitment to building out the SOE to include the following additional academic programs:

• Master's Degree in Speech-Pathology
• Baccalaureate Degree in Elementary Education with Emphasis in Bilingual Education
• Baccalaureate program in Inclusive Early Childhood Education(EC/ECSE)
• Ed.S. in School Psychology
• Bachelor of Arts in Special Education with a Concentration in Autism

The new School of Education building opened in the summer of 2021;in addition to being home for all SOE programs, faculty, and staff,the new facility includes an early childhood education center, aspeech-language pathology clinic and a Psycho-educational Mental Health Clinic.
