Fabrication Manager

Austal Defence Australia (ADA) is currently seeking a Fabrication Manager to lead our fabrication operations. In this role you’ll be responsible for driving the day-to-day performance of the fabrication’s teams, ensuring the safe, efficient and high-quality delivery of key work across our defence programs.

What’s Involved

• Lead and manage daily fabrication operations
• Plan and coordinate labour, materials and workflow to meet project schedules and production targets
• Provide strong, hands-on leadership to fabrication coordinators and trades
• Monitor progress and resolve operational issues to keep work moving
• Drive HSEQ standards be defining and managing departmental processes, ensuring compliance
• Manage departmental financials including estimating input, budget forecasting, variations, contractor costs and prudent expenditure
• Build effective working relationships with Projects, Engineering, Production and other key stakeholders to ensure alignment and seamless workflow across the business

You’ll Need

• Trade qualification of equivalent experience
• Effective verbal and written communication
• Leadership qualification or equivalent experience
• Shipbuilding experience or similar
• Experience with budget development and management
• Experience with Quality and Safety management processes and standards
