Environmental Field Technician (Stack Emissions Testing)

A Day in the Life of an Environmental Stack Testing Field TechnicianUnder the supervision of the Field Operations Manager, the technician conducts stack emissions testing (bag houses, furnace stacks, industrial flares, etc.), calibrates equipment, and maintains the mobile lab trailer. The technician operates and troubleshoots electronic and stack gas conveyance systems, ensures compliance, follows health and safety procedures, and performs shop duties as needed.
Strong mechanical skills are essential for handling varying stack configurations across manufacturing and commercial sites. The role requires frequent travel and the ability to work at heights with proper safety protocols.
Qualifications for Environmental Stack Testing Field Technician- One to four years of stack testing experience using EPA Methods 1 through 5 (willing to train the right candidate)
- CEMS experience is helpful but not required
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, or Environmental Science helpful but not required
- Ability to comfortably work at heights with proper training and safety protocols
- Ability to travel
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record free of major violations over the past five years
- Self‑starter, quick learner, and effective communicator
- Ability to work individually and as part of a team
- Ability to operate high lifts, climb scaffolding, and lift 50-70 pounds
This full‑time position typically works Monday through Friday, with moderate traveling, weekend work, and overnight shifts required during peak season.
