Position: (Lead/Senior) Plumbing Design Engineer - Multiple Sectors

Position Overview

As a Lead/Senior Plumbing Design Engineer at Henderson Engineers, you will contribute expertise across six market sectors, including Business, Community, Grocery & Distribution, Health, Retail, and Venue. Our work seamlessly integrates engineering knowledge with in‑field experience from our sister company, Henderson Building Solutions, to deliver an unparalleled client experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Proactively advise and mentor less experienced designers and engineers across teams or practices, providing oversight and technical guidance.
  • Take responsibility for the success of those under direct supervision.
  • Design advanced building systems, prepare design documents, and perform engineering calculations in coordination with project teams and multiple disciplines.
  • Lead project and design efforts from concept through completion.
  • Produce solutions to complex engineering problems and complicated design challenges through direct involvement or in an advisory capacity.
  • Ensure that production of drawings, specifications, reports, and analyses meets scope, schedule, cost, and quality requirements.
  • Be involved in the development of tools, resources, and company practices.
  • Implement and reinforce design and engineering standards at the team or practice level.
  • Oversee the quality of projects and designs through the quality review process and regular check‑ins, including providing final reviews for projects under purview.
Required Qualifications

Lead Level:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of engineering (e.g., mechanical, electrical, fire protection, or architectural) and 11 years of relevant experience, or 13 years of experience without a degree required. A Professional Engineering (PE) license may count toward 1 year of direct experience.
  • Advanced knowledge and proficiency in engineering design, A&E industry, codes, design guides, and standards relating to a broad range of practices, projects, and program types.
  • Knowledge of earned value, contracts, and construction processes and methods.
  • Proficiency in Revit and Bluebeam Revu.

Senior Level:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of engineering and 15 years of relevant experience, or commensurate experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. A Professional Engineering (PE) license may count toward 1 year of direct experience.
  • Expert knowledge and proficiency in engineering design, A&E industry, codes, design guides, and standards relating to a broad range of practices, projects, and program types.
  • Working knowledge of earned value, contracts, and construction processes and methods.
  • Working knowledge of Revit and Bluebeam Revu.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license.
  • Completion of FE exam, LEED and/or WELL accreditation.
  • Advanced knowledge and proficiency in engineering design, A&E industry, codes, design guides, and standards applicable to a range of practices, projects, or program types.
Pay Transparency

Individual salaries may be higher or lower than the stated range depending on factors unrelated to race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, ethnicity, age, or disability. Salary can vary from this range based on geographic cost of labor statistical differentials.

Denver – $113,520 to $198,000

Los Angeles – $119,712 to $208,800

New York City – $125,904 to $219,600

Washington DC – $119,712 to $208,800
