What is a Mechanical Engineering Co-op?
The Mechanical Engineering Co-op position is a two semester co-op for the Spring and Summer sessions of 2027. No relocation assistance will be offered, local candidates only.
During the Co-Op program, you will gain hands‑on experience by working within the Research and Development, Product Design, Manufacturing Support, and/or Compliance Engineering teams to support engineering projects involving documentation updates, product design, testing, process improvement, and regulatory compliance.
What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate is c urrently enrolled working toward Bachelor of Science, Mechanical Engineering degree with a minimum four semesters schooling with two semesters in the engineering program with previous 3-D CAD experience.
Required Duties and Responsibilities- Create 3D components/assemblies, and/or engineering drawings utilizing Autodesk suite of design software.
- Prepare and process Controlled Document Changes (CDCs) as assigned.
- Assist with researching and implementing purchasing part/material deviations.
- Create and maintain Bills of Material (BOMs) within ERP/MRP system.
- Develop procedures to support/improve manufacturing processes.
- Contribute to identifying and completing cost reduction product/process improvements.
- Support hands‑on prototyping, assembly, and manufacturing activities.
- Effectively interact with and communicate with peers, suppliers, and customers.
- Comply with policies, procedures, standards, and rules of the company.
- Support quality assurance practices consistent with ISO standards.
- Maintain work area in a clean, orderly, and safe manner.
- Punctual, regular, and consistent attendance.
- Perform all other job‑related duties as assigned.
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent discipline.
- Completion of a minimum of four semesters of engineering coursework.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite including Teams, Outlook, Excel, and One Note.
- Basic understanding of mechanical design principles and engineering drawings.
- Ability to work effectively individually and in a collaborative team environment.
- Able to read, write, and follow verbal instructions in Standard English.
- Previous 3D CAD experience.
- Hands‑on design and testing experience through projects, internships, or coursework.
- Familiarity with engineering drawings, prototyping methods, and manufacturing processes.
- Minimal lifting, up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Must be able to sit, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, bend and stoop in a normal office environment.
- Ability to routinely travel throughout multi‑floor office and shop area, walking, climbing stairs, utilizing elevator.
- Normal vision and manual dexterity.
- Must respond to changing requirements, deadlines, and adhere to strict time constraints.
