Overview
The Technical Services Technician plays a key role in the development and continuous improvement of Designs for Health (DFH) products. This position supports the end-to-end prototype process by working directly with raw materials, blends, finished dosage forms, packaging components, and manufacturing processes. The role also partners closely with Operations to support troubleshooting, plant trials, and successful product launches, ensuring DFH products meet quality, performance, and manufacturability standards.
EssentialJob Duties / Responsibilities
- Coordinate flavor development for powdered drink mixes in collaboration with approved third-party flavor houses.
- Develop and support multiple dosage forms, including powdered drink mixes, liquids, and softgels.
- Create lab-scale prototypes to assess manufacturability, validate specifications, and develop manufacturing instructions.
- Participate in plant trials, production-scale launches, and manufacturing evaluations.
- Assist with troubleshooting, investigations, and continuous improvement efforts related to production and product performance.
- Perform bench testing on raw materials, blends, finished dosage forms, and packaging components.
- Gather technical and formulation information from vendors and internal stakeholders to support new product development and improvements to existing products.
- Maintain accurate, detailed documentation of development activities for project reporting and regulatory support.
- Provide hands-on support on the production floor as needed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Salary Range: $60,000 - $70,000
Requirements- Bachelor’s degree or higher in a scientific discipline (e.g., Chemistry, Biology, Food Science, or related field).
- Prior experience in dietary supplement development preferred.
- Experience with softgel formulation and/or manufacturing strongly preferred.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
- Advanced critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency with computer systems and technical documentation.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Flexibility to work varying schedules, including overtime when required.
- Mechanical aptitude and comfort working in a hands-on laboratory and manufacturing environment.
- Ability to lift 50–75 pounds and stand for extended periods as required by the role.
